Castillo’s Complete Game Leads Way to Win

It seemed as if senior left-hander Johan Castillo did not pick up where he wanted to after his last outing after a shaky first inning, where he allowed an unearned run due to a Luke Lindamood error. However, he looked like his usual self settling in the 2nd going 3 up 3 down. He would then go on cruise control for the rest of the game, allowing only one more run in the 4th courtesy of a Crusader homerun. Castillo would rack his second consecutive complete game up, giving him two in as many outings. His final line would go on to be 7IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, and 4Ks.

The Tiger offense started out with a bang and their traditional model of responding when a team scores. In the first, junior Jarrett Chapman would walk and score thanks to designated hitter Nick Lopez's second home run of the year. The Tigers would not score any more runs until the bottom of the 6th inning. First basemen Hank Schineller would lead off the inning with a single and then be pinch ran for by Jacob Dezarn. Dezarn would score on a balk later in the inning, proving to be the game-winning run. The Tigers would also score another run thanks to some timely pinch-hitting from Max Flock who would score Josiah Zamora, who doubled earlier in the inning, to take a 4-2 lead heading into the seventh.

The Tigers are back in action right after this as they play game 2 of the doubleheader against Madonna.
